Steve Zicari, PhD

Chief Operating Officer

Steve drives innovation in production and product R&D and oversees the QA/QC program. Steve is a bioprocess engineer and has been involved in the organic waste conversion and renewable energy industries for over 15 years. Steve holds a doctorate in Biosystems Engineering from UC Davis where he studied enzymatic conversion of sugar beets for biofuel production. Steve is co-editor of the Integrated Processing Technologies for Food and Agricultural By-Products textbook and on the editorial board for the Industrial Biotechnology journal. Steve worked previously as a senior engineer with Microgy, Inc., building large-scale anaerobic digestion and renewable energy facilities and is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California. Steve also earned his MS and BS degrees in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from Cornell University.
