Winner of the Forbes Thrive Accelerator Sustainability Award, California Safe Soil (CSS), uses a process that takes unsold food from grocery stores and through heat, enzymatic digestion and pasteurization creates a unique liquid fertilizer. Lorri Koster, CEO of Mann Packing, mentored CSS throughout the accelerator program and assisted the company in several trials.

H2H increases organic matter and in turn, expands the plant root system. Through this expansion, plants are able to retain more water and nitrogen, which decreases the amount of nitrate runoff and water consumption.

On Friday, July 10, the 2015 Summit on Water Technology and the California Drought was held in Downtown Sacramento in the EPA building. The Summit was sponsored by Imagine H2O and the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA), two formidable leaders at the forefront of discovering methods and technology to adapt to the drought and save water.

CSS is proud to announce that from numerous applicants and 10 finalists, we were presented with the Sustainability Award at the Forbes AgTech Summit event on July 9th, 2015 in Salinas, CA through the Thrive Accelerator Program.

Finalists in the Thrive Accelerator program got to make “sales pitches on what they believe what will change the face of agriculture in Salinas and worldwide” at the National Steinbeck Center on March 4, 2015.
